Let me go even farther with the last topic to ponder. Believing that God took more than a rib from Adam to make Eve, I look at Genesis 3:16 more deeply.

A woman’s desire will be for her husband and he will rule over her. We know that in God’s economy, to rule is to serve; therefore, her punishment is that he will be her slave. That sounds confusing, but I think a woman who is truly served will be governed without words. She will so respect her husband as to be a husband pleaser.

But her desire for him is the interesting part. The application goes beyond the physical. She will not only long to have a part of him inside her physically, but she will also long to have a part of his soul in her soul and a part of his spirit in her spirit. Hence, the two will become one--body, soul, and spirit. I think it has something to do with the New Testament teaching about man being the spiritual covering for his wife.

We can tell what Satan hates by looking at his campaigns in the world. He has this world working overtime trying to erase all cognizance of any difference between male and female. Genesis makes it clear that God created them male and female--two different genders.

Here is one interesting gender difference:

A man won the Nobel peace prize for a study that shows the truth of Genesis. He discovered that, while babies are yet in the womb developing, at a certain point in the development, male babies secret two chemicals that slow down the development of the right side of the brain. Now you can be sure God made us this way, and it has to do with more than a rib.

The right side of the brain is the seat of the emotional side of mankind. Men are born emotionally retarded and, therefore, emphasize the logical side of things. There is no evidence that their logical side is more developed than the females logical side at birth; they are just right-brain retarded. I am not saying men cannot become as emotionally compassionate as a woman is. But at birth the logical side is way ahead in males.

Perhaps God wanted man to be less emotional so he would not be so easily led astray. I have heard teaching based on 1 Timothy 2:14 (NIV) And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. The woman, being more inclined toward the emotional, is more likely to be deceived. That is why she was not allowed to be the leader and teacher over men in the early church. Adam, more inclined to be logical, was not deceived. He made a logical choice to join his wife in sin. (Of course, he was there at the time and failed to be a covering for her when she was tempted.)
