Monica,
You want some more heavy thoughts from my mind? Things are bouncing around in here, and I have no earthling with any spiritual comprehension to talk to around this RV park.
I have learned to be very suspicious of the things the world is eager to teach us. The world’s psychiatrists said we would ruin our kids if we used physical punishment in our discipline. No matter that the Bible said otherwise, most Christians went along with the world’s thinking and ruined a whole generation of kids. The world’s psychiatrists said it is healthy to own a pet--everyone should get a dog and or cat. No one wonders why the Bible doesn’t mention such a benefit. No one wonders why it does not say, “Beloved let us bond with a dog.” (1 John 4:7-8) “This is my commandment that you all love a cat that your joy may be full.” (John 15:11-12) “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ and with our dogs and cats. We write this to make our joy complete.” (1 John 1:3-4)
I mentioned that lie of Satan because we were talking about fellowship with Father in the letter I wrote a few days ago. You are right to seek fellowship with Father and Son.
I have long appreciated the paradoxes in the Bible. One that has caused denominational divisions is that the Bible in Romans 8 and Ephesians 1 says we are predestined, but the Bible also clearly says we have a free will. I always said both are completely true, and I see it more clearly now than ever.
The world’s psychiatrist are busy trying to make everyone concentrate on the past. I wonder why. Blame your parents for you failures. Blame your teachers. Blame your friend. Blame you dog if you have to. But just know that your failures are a result of the past. Yes, I wonder why. Why does Paul say, “Forgetting those things which are past....”
The truth is we are not affected by the past. In fact, if it is something God had to forgive us for, it doesn’t even exist anymore. No, we are affected by the future! That is a beautiful revelation if you can comprehend it. We are not pushed by our past; we are drawn by our future. We are predestined to something. God has a destiny in mind for each of us before we are born. He knows exactly how we will respond (with our free will) to every stimulus ever to come across our paths. He orchestrates our experiences to get the results he wants. He does not allow things to come our way that will defeat his predestined purpose for our lives. In fact, he tells us in Philippians 2:13 that he works in us to will and to act according to his purpose. He is drawing us to his predestined purpose for each of our lives.
The world wants us looking back; God is drawing us ahead to the exciting future in store for us. Monica and Nehm, believe me, we are living in the most exciting time of history. God has saved the best for last. The world is going to see Jesus in us before we are taken out to attend the Wedding Feast. Individually and as a church, we are going to function more like Jesus in love, compassion, faith, and power than any generation of Christians have yet functioned. I fully believe that the things Jesus did are supposed to be easy for us and are going to be easy for some of us who are willing to believe. We are born in the likeness of God. We are not confined to the laws of physics. We are given all authority to use the name of Jesus--that means we have power of attorney to do anything in his name if we can just believe it. Look at Jesus’ life. He was not at all amazed that he could walk on the water; it was easy. He was not amazed that he could feed 15,000 or more people from one boxed lunch. He was not amazed that he could tell water to become fine wine. He was not amazed that he could look into the realm of the spirit where people like Lazarus and Jairus’ daughter were when people perceived them as dead though they had only left their physical bodies. He could look into the realm where these people were still very much alive and call them back into the “dead” physical bodies. He was not amazed; it was common place. Yet, he said to us that what he did we would do also.
I believe he meant that quite literally. This last move of God on his people just before Jesus comes back to take us to the Wedding Feast is going have many of us living as Jesus did. We will not be ruled by our physical senses’ perception of reality. We will literally know that literal mountains will obey us if we tell them to move. Of course, God is screening us very carefully. People who are not walking under the absolute guidance of the Holy Spirit are not going to flow in this authority. They could not be trusted with it, for they lean on their own understanding.
I guess that’s enough food for your thought machine for now. God bless both of you.
Love, Dad
